# Moot vs esse

The clearest difference is review sentiment: esse at 100% against Moot's 9%. esse also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and in-app purchases (none vs 15). Moot's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (248 vs 3). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Moot sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. esse asks for nothing beyond the download.

esse holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Moot has 248 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 9% of Moot's written reviews are positive against 100% of esse's.

Moot ships an update every 3 days, esse every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
