# Chalkee vs Pukutan

The clearest difference is rating: Chalkee at 4.7 against Pukutan's 4.0. Chalkee also leads on ratings volume (177 vs 3). Pukutan's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chalkee sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Pukutan sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chalkee holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chalkee has 177 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Chalkee's written reviews are positive against 73% of Pukutan's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Chalkee ships an update every 8 days, Pukutan every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
