# Insect & Bug vs Falling Filter

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Insect & Bug at none against Falling Filter's 3. Falling Filter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). On price, rating, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Falling Filter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Insect & Bug asks for nothing beyond the download.

Insect & Bug holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Falling Filter has 4K ratings behind it against 433, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 6% of Insect & Bug's written reviews are positive against 14% of Falling Filter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Insect & Bug ships an update every 2 months, Falling Filter every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
