# Protocol vs Sioly

The clearest difference is monetization model: Sioly at free against Protocol's free with in-app purchases. Sioly also leads on ratings volume (27 vs 5) and device support (4 vs 2). Protocol's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Protocol sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Sioly sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Protocol holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sioly has 27 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Protocol ships an update every 4 days, Sioly every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
