# Protocol vs LooksNova

The clearest difference is update cadence: Protocol at every 4 days against LooksNova's monthly. Protocol also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Protocol sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and LooksNova sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Protocol ships an update every 4 days, LooksNova monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
