# Journal vs Today Events Widget

The clearest difference is rating: Journal at 5.0 against Today Events Widget's 1.0. Journal also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Journal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Today Events Widget sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Journal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Journal has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Journal ships an update every 5 days, Today Events Widget monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
