# Readex vs HeyReader

The clearest difference is monetization model: HeyReader at free against Readex's freemium. Readex's advantage is iOS requirement (15.5 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Readex sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and HeyReader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Readex against 5.0 for HeyReader. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 3 respectively. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Readex ships an update every 2 days, HeyReader every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
