# Prod vs BookStax

The clearest difference is rating: BookStax at 5.0 against Prod's 3.0. BookStax also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prod sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and BookStax sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BookStax holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 1 respectively. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 50% and 50% positive.

Prod ships an update every 3 weeks, BookStax every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
