# BookScout vs Forewords

The clearest difference is iOS requirement: Forewords at 15.1 against BookScout's 26.2. On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BookScout sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Forewords sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
