# DMV vs Drive Prep

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Drive Prep at none against DMV's 15. Drive Prep also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). DMV's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (428 vs 2). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DMV sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Drive Prep asks for nothing beyond the download.

Drive Prep holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DMV has 428 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DMV ships an update every 3 days, Drive Prep monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
