# Darkroom Assistant vs Kinemetron

The clearest difference is update cadence: Darkroom Assistant at every 4 days against Kinemetron's every 2 months. Darkroom Assistant also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Darkroom Assistant sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $39.99 per year and Kinemetron sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Darkroom Assistant ships an update every 4 days, Kinemetron every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
