# Mermaid Editor vs Happier

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Happier at none against Mermaid Editor's 3. Happier also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (71% vs 50%). Mermaid Editor's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, ratings volume, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mermaid Editor sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Happier asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mermaid Editor holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 16 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Mermaid Editor's written reviews are positive against 71% of Happier's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mermaid Editor ships an update every 5 days, Happier every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 28, 2026.
