# Boxers Timer vs BasicPlate

The clearest difference is update cadence: BasicPlate at weekly against Boxers Timer's every 2 months. BasicPlate also leads on ratings volume (9 vs 1). Boxers Timer's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Boxers Timer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and BasicPlate sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Boxers Timer against 5.0 for BasicPlate. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BasicPlate has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
