# BibleGate vs Scrolls

The clearest difference is monetization model: BibleGate at free with in-app purchases against Scrolls's subscription. Scrolls's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BibleGate sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Scrolls sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scrolls holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 11 and 10 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 83% of BibleGate's written reviews are positive against 100% of Scrolls's.

BibleGate ships an update weekly, Scrolls every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
