# Tip Calc vs SubCost

The clearest difference is ads: SubCost at none against Tip Calc's shown. SubCost also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tip Calc sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and SubCost sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tip Calc ships an update every 3 weeks, SubCost every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
