# OpenGolfSim vs Golf Gear

The clearest difference is rating: OpenGolfSim at 5.0 against Golf Gear's 4.3. Golf Gear's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (138 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenGolfSim sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Golf Gear sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OpenGolfSim holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Golf Gear has 138 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OpenGolfSim ships an update monthly, Golf Gear every 5 days. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
