# Speed Reader vs Speed Reader

Speed Reader and Speed Reader both sit at 4.1 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Speed Reader's written reviews are positive against 60% of Speed Reader's. Speed Reader's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (13 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Reader sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Speed Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.1 for Speed Reader against 4.0 for Speed Reader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Reader has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 60% of Speed Reader's written reviews are positive against 100% of Speed Reader's.

Speed Reader ships an update every 5 days, Speed Reader every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
