# Calmena vs Open Step

The clearest difference is ads: Calmena at none against Open Step's shown. Open Step's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Calmena sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $17.99 per year and Open Step sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Calmena ships an update monthly, Open Step every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
