# BrewJournal vs Sips

The clearest difference is update cadence: BrewJournal at every 2 days against Sips's every 4 weeks. BrewJournal also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BrewJournal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Sips sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BrewJournal ships an update every 2 days, Sips every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
