# Memex vs visualOS

The clearest difference is price: Memex at Free against visualOS's $12.99. Memex also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.4). visualOS's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Memex is free to download; visualOS costs $12.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Memex holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: visualOS has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Memex ships an update fortnightly, visualOS every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
