# Retro Notes vs TypePress

The clearest difference is update cadence: Retro Notes at every 8 days against TypePress's every 5 weeks. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Retro Notes sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and TypePress sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Retro Notes ships an update every 8 days, TypePress every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
