# Throughline Speed Reader vs FlashRead

The clearest difference is monetization model: Throughline Speed Reader at free against FlashRead's freemium. FlashRead's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 26.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Throughline Speed Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and FlashRead sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Throughline Speed Reader against 5.0 for FlashRead. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 1 respectively. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Throughline Speed Reader ships an update every 6 weeks, FlashRead every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
