# Blocus vs Brain Games

The clearest difference is monetization model: Blocus at free with in-app purchases against Brain Games's subscription. Blocus also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Blocus sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Brain Games sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Blocus holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Blocus has 226 ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 9% of Blocus's written reviews are positive against 0% of Brain Games's.

Blocus ships an update every 3 days, Brain Games fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
