# Elara vs Text Editor

The clearest difference is update cadence: Elara at monthly against Text Editor's every 3 months. Text Editor's advantage is iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Elara sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Text Editor sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Elara ships an update monthly, Text Editor every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
