# VPN vs Whale VPN 1

The clearest difference is rating: VPN at 3.3 against Whale VPN 1's 2.9. On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 3.3 against 2.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 93 and 60 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 33% of Whale VPN 1's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
