# Mina vs English Bites

The clearest difference is rating: English Bites at 4.6 against Mina's 3.8. English Bites also leads on ratings volume (170 vs 5) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). Mina's advantage is monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mina sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and English Bites sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 3 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

English Bites holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: English Bites has 170 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mina ships an update monthly, English Bites weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
