# Dots vs Habits

The clearest difference is monetization model: Dots at free against Habits's freemium. Dots also leads on ratings volume (226 vs 10). Habits's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 5 days). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dots sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Habits sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Dots against 5.0 for Habits. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dots has 226 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 98% of Dots's written reviews are positive against 100% of Habits's.

Dots ships an update every 5 days, Habits daily. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
