# Ping VPN vs CHOP

The clearest difference is ads: Ping VPN at none against CHOP's shown. CHOP's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ping VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and CHOP sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CHOP holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 188 and 89 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Ping VPN's written reviews are positive against 62% of CHOP's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ping VPN ships an update fortnightly, CHOP every 3 days. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
