# Diamond vs State 1878

The clearest difference is ads: State 1878 at none against Diamond's shown. Diamond's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 3) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Diamond sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and State 1878 sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $8.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Diamond against 5.0 for State 1878. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Diamond has 1.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Diamond ships an update every 5 days, State 1878 every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
