# Email Generator vs Private Relay

The clearest difference is monetization model: Private Relay at free against Email Generator's freemium. Email Generator's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (9 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Email Generator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Private Relay sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Email Generator against 5.0 for Private Relay. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Email Generator has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Email Generator ships an update every 3 weeks, Private Relay every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
