# Email Generator vs Private Relay

The clearest difference is monetization model: Private Relay at free against Email Generator's freemium. Email Generator's advantage is ratings volume (10 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Email Generator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Private Relay sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Email Generator against 5.0 for Private Relay. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Email Generator has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Email Generator ships an update every 4 months, Private Relay every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
