# AniShelf vs ddPlayer

The clearest difference is update cadence: ddPlayer at every 2 days against AniShelf's weekly. ddPlayer also leads on ratings volume (12 vs 2) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AniShelf sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and ddPlayer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for AniShelf against 4.9 for ddPlayer. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ddPlayer has 12 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AniShelf ships an update weekly, ddPlayer every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
