# Speed Reader vs FlashRead

The clearest difference is rating: FlashRead at 5.0 against Speed Reader's 4.0. FlashRead also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 26.2). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and FlashRead sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speed Reader ships an update every 3 months, FlashRead every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
