# Permit Path vs Route Pilot Pro

The clearest difference is monetization model: Permit Path at freemium against Route Pilot Pro's subscription. Permit Path also leads on ratings volume (13 vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 6 days). Route Pilot Pro's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Permit Path sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month and Route Pilot Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Route Pilot Pro holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Permit Path has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Permit Path ships an update every 3 days, Route Pilot Pro every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
