# Countdown Widget vs Waimea

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Waimea at none against Countdown Widget's 3. Waimea also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Countdown Widget's advantage is ratings volume (20 vs 2). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown Widget sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Waimea asks for nothing beyond the download.

Waimea holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown Widget has 20 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Countdown Widget ships an update weekly, Waimea every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
