SpeakPad gives a nonspeaking child a complete voice, free. Tap symbols to speak, build sentences a word at a time, and keep every word in the same place so motor memory does the work. Made for families, teachers and speech therapists, at home, at school and out in the world. Speaking is always free, and so is every accessibility feature, every voice that comes with SpeakPad, and every board you make. No ads, no account, no data collection. Use it on an iPad and an iPhone, in 9 languages. And the research is clear: AAC does not stop children from speaking. For most children it helps speech grow. WHAT IS FREE • Unlimited speech, sentence building, word prediction, phrases and recent words. • Switch scanning, dwell, touch and display access, and full VoiceOver labeling. • One complete vocabulary set, every topic set and over 100 ready-made boards, from first words to routines, literacy, medical and teen social contexts. One free change of set if the first choice does not suit your child. • Unlimited words of your own, using text or your own photos. • Search all 26,000+ symbols, including SpeakPad's own set of 9,000+. Use any symbol already on your child's boards, and assign 30 new ones on each profile. • Two communicator profiles. Create, edit, print, share and back up boards, and open boards from other AAC apps (.obz). • Modeling Mode, target words and a weekly summary of what you modeled. • Personal Voice, so a voice recorded on the device can become the child's voice. MADE FOR THE CHILD • Vocabulary that never moves. Core words stay in the same place as the set grows around them. • Fitzgerald Key color coding, and word forms a tap away. • Visual Scene boards: a photo with tappable hotspots. • Offline first. Core communication works with no internet, and nothing leaves the device. • 9 languages: English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Hindi, Simplified Chinese, Dutch and Irish, with bilingual labels. Irish has its own recorded voices. SPEAKPAD PRO (OPTIONAL IN-APP PURCHASE) For the adults who build and keep up the boards. Pro saves that time. • Change to another complete vocabulary set as often as the child's needs change. • Assign any built-in symbol, beyond the 30 free assignments on each profile. • Quick Board Builder turns a word list into a finished, laid-out board in one step. • More than two communicator profiles, for a classroom or a clinical caseload. • Newer boards applied automatically on your other devices with the same iCloud account. • Write goals and record data sessions for IEP, EHCP and therapy reporting, with a formatted PDF report to share. • Export boards as .obz files for other AAC apps. • Natural-sounding SpeakPad voices to download, for English and Irish. • Monthly, annual or lifetime, with Family Sharing. Squawk is a free, offline-first AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app that helps non-verbal and minimally verbal individuals communicate. No subscription, no account signup, no internet required for everyday use. Tap symbols to build sentences, and Squawk speaks them aloud. Every grid is fully customizable, from a toddler's first words to an adult's daily vocabulary. FEATURES • Real symbol art: thousands of ARASAAC pictogram symbols, or add your own photos from your camera, photo library, or the web • Core words & grammar: an optional fixed row of common words stays in the same place on every grid, plus buttons to turn a word into "-ing," "-ed," and more, so motor planning carries over between boards • Record your own voice: capture a custom voice clip for any button instead of text-to-speech, in your voice or a loved one's • Natural text-to-speech: choose from every voice installed on your device, including premium and enhanced quality voices, or type a message directly instead of tapping symbols • Fully customizable grids: resize, rearrange, recolor, and link boards together; pick from multiple grid styles and layouts • Age-appropriate starter vocabularies: Toddler, Child, Teen, and Adult packs to get going immediately • Parental & therapist controls: lock settings and grid editing behind a PIN, and hide any UI element you don't want visible • Whiteboard: a simple drawing space for freeform communication • Switch scanning: accessibility support for switch-based input • Export, share & switch apps freely: back up any grid or your whole vocabulary as a single file, and import it on another device. Squawk also supports Open Board Format, so you can bring boards in from other AAC apps like CoughDrop and TouchChat, or take your Squawk boards with you elsewhere • Private iCloud backup: your vocabulary backs up automatically to your own private iCloud storage, so a lost or reset device never means losing everything you've built. Nothing is ever uploaded anywhere except your own private iCloud account • Works fully offline: no internet connection needed for everyday use; your data lives on your device Squawk was built to be a genuinely free alternative to AAC apps that can cost hundreds of dollars, without cutting corners on the features that actually matter for real communication.
