# Substract vs Apex

The clearest difference is ads: Apex at none against Substract's shown. Substract's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 10 days). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Substract sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Apex sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Substract ships an update every 2 days, Apex every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
