# Substract vs Steward

The clearest difference is ads: Steward at none against Substract's shown. Substract's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Substract sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Steward sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Substract ships an update every 2 days, Steward every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
