# BrainFree vs Rotcut

The clearest difference is monetization model: BrainFree at free with in-app purchases against Rotcut's subscription. Rotcut's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 6 weeks). On price, rating, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BrainFree sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Rotcut sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for BrainFree against 5.0 for Rotcut. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 2 respectively.

BrainFree ships an update every 6 weeks, Rotcut every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
