# Altar vs Bible

The clearest difference is update cadence: Altar at every 5 days against Bible's every 3 weeks. Altar also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Altar sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month and Bible sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Altar ships an update every 5 days, Bible every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
