# Lumed vs Vellore

The clearest difference is monetization model: Lumed at free against Vellore's free with in-app purchases. Lumed also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 90%). Vellore's advantage is ratings volume (33 vs 5) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lumed sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Vellore sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Lumed against 4.9 for Vellore. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Vellore has 33 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Lumed's written reviews are positive against 90% of Vellore's.

Lumed ships an update every 11 days, Vellore weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
