# Recap vs Dictation Notes

The clearest difference is ads: Dictation Notes at none against Recap's shown. Recap's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Recap sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Dictation Notes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Recap ships an update every 4 days, Dictation Notes every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
