# StepMate vs Pedometer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: StepMate at none against Pedometer's 1. StepMate also leads on ads (none vs shown). Pedometer's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pedometer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. StepMate asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for StepMate against 5.0 for Pedometer. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pedometer has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

StepMate ships an update weekly, Pedometer every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
