# Freedom DNS vs DNSwitch

The clearest difference is rating: DNSwitch at 5.0 against Freedom DNS's 4.7. DNSwitch also leads on update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). Freedom DNS's advantage is ratings volume (28 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Freedom DNS sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and DNSwitch sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DNSwitch holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freedom DNS has 28 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Freedom DNS ships an update fortnightly, DNSwitch weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
