# Speedometer vs Car Dashboard Widgets

The clearest difference is rating: Speedometer at 5.0 against Car Dashboard Widgets's 4.4. Speedometer also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Car Dashboard Widgets's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (22 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speedometer sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Car Dashboard Widgets sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speedometer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Car Dashboard Widgets has 22 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speedometer ships an update every 3 weeks, Car Dashboard Widgets every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
