# SpeakCove vs Reader

The clearest difference is ads: SpeakCove at none against Reader's shown. Reader's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 7 months) and iOS requirement (18.6 vs 26.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SpeakCove sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SpeakCove ships an update every 7 months, Reader every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
