# BarReader vs Home Bar

The clearest difference is update cadence: BarReader at fortnightly against Home Bar's every 2 months. BarReader also leads on iOS requirement (16.6 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BarReader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Home Bar sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BarReader ships an update fortnightly, Home Bar every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
