# Brackets vs SideSweep

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Brackets at none against SideSweep's 2. Brackets also leads on ratings volume (5 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). SideSweep's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SideSweep sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Brackets asks for nothing beyond the download.

SideSweep holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brackets has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Brackets ships an update every 3 weeks, SideSweep every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
