# WeaveRead vs opencast

The clearest difference is iOS requirement: WeaveRead at 18.0 against opencast's 27.0. On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WeaveRead sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and opencast sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WeaveRead ships an update every 2 weeks, opencast every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and September 19, 2026 respectively.
