# Mentalist Detective vs Echoes

The clearest difference is ads: Echoes at none against Mentalist Detective's shown. Echoes also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Mentalist Detective's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mentalist Detective sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Echoes sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mentalist Detective ships an update fortnightly, Echoes monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
